Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter VORTISCH

Biographical note
Peter Vortisch holds a diploma degree in Computer Science and a PhD in civil engineering (traffic management) of the University of Karlsruhe. Before he became a full professor for transportation at the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT) in 2010, he worked for 13 years at PTV AG in Karlsruhe, a software and consulting company. He was responsible for product management and development of traffic engineering software, including the widely used traffic flow simulator VISSIM. His current research interests include travel behavior studies, modelling of travel demand and traffic flow, as well as the application of these models in transport planning and traffic engineering. He is a member of the scientific advisory board of the German Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
