Presentation: MaaS in Sweden – Västtrafik leading the transition
Västtrafik’s work with combined mobility was to procure a partner that could deliver a full combined mobility service. We performed an RFI, but saw that the solutions offered by the market were associated with high economic risks. Västtrafik then decided to cooperate with Samtrafiken (the Swedish National Platform for Public/Private transport) in the development of a national Swedish Mobility Program, with the aim to create an integrated sustainable mobility platform, where Västtrafik’s digital tickets are included together with other sustainable modes. The result will be a digital platform that is regulated by Samtrafiken on a national level, including contractual and technical specifications, to offer the market a platform that is steered towards sustainable traveling. The first PTA out is Västtrafik and the region of West Sweden, starting in 2018.
