Presentation: Combined mobility : enhanced knowledge for a smarter integration with public transit
In the middle of combined mobility, public transit operators are constantly solicited by the new mobility game-changers, while supporting documents on their impacts are often missing. Complementary, competing, or both at the same time? Indeed, while some of these new stakeholders can help lessen dependence on car usage (municipal, societal benefit), this can create a paradox for public transport authorities, who are subjected to and accountable for expectations of ridership and revenue. Beyond the issues of sharing data regarding public/private transportation, STM aims to position itself as a leading player, by initiating projects that will lead to superior understanding of the circumstantial dynamics at play in the choice of transport modes. An overview of these initiatives will be presented.
