Jonas STRÖMBERG

Biographical note
Jonas Strömberg, Director Sustainable Solutions, Scania CV AB, Sweden Mr. Strömberg joined Scania in 2008. As Director for Sustainable Solutions, he is responsible for co-ordinating Scania’s activities on Sustainable Transportation for buses and trucks. Previous positions: • Head of Environmental Department at Stockholm Arlanda Airport ( • Environmental Manager at Stockholm Public Transport , • Environmental Manager at Swedish Railways & GreenCargo. At Stockholm Public Transport, Mr Strömberg was responsible for setting up the World’s largest fleet of heavy duty non-fossil fuelled buses. Mr. Strömberg is a member of EU’s expert group on advanced sustainable fuels. Mr. Strömberg has served as President of the Fuels Cell Bus Club. Mr. Strömberg frequently lectures internationally on sustainable transport. Mr. Strömberg is an undefeated champion in the TV quiz show “Jeopardy”

Presentation: Green and Functional Public Transport Procurement – leading the TRANSITion for a fossil free transport sector in 2050
The main objectives are:  1) To show that both more cost efficient emission reductions and energy savings from transport could be achieved, if a more functional and integrated procurement process was to be used by cities, regions and Public Transport Authorities.  2) To show how such procurement could be designed to support new electric propulsion technologies, sustainable fuels, autonomous vehicles, platooning and advanced bus systems. 3) To show how public transport authorities, by applying such measures, could lead the TRANSITion towards a fossil free, energy efficient transport sector in 2050. 4) To show good examples and results from cities where functional and integrated green procurement has been applied, to inspire a more widespread use of such procurement..
