Presentation: The importance of collaboration for first/last mile connectivity – case study of KVB-Rad Cologne
After years of fear for cannibalization German PTOs have started to actively engage with nextbike as a strategic cooperation partner to extend their existing mobility portfolio with Bike Sharing.
White-labelled systems such as KVB-Rad Cologne, MVG-Rad Munich or VRN-Rad Rhein-Neckar as a regional system are offering Bike Sharing “powered by nextbike” as a new mode of transport to their PT customers. Based on the very successful example of the KVB-Rad Cologne Project this presentation discusses the advantages and measures of a cooperative approach between Bike Sharing and PT operators, especially in the light of disruptive new players from China swamping cities with huge numbers of bikes in cities around the world.
