Biographical note
Michael Pellot, Director of Research + Development and Internationals Affairs, at Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona. Bachelor System Engineer, MBA and IESE’s General Management Program (PDG)
He started his professional activity as Engineer in Caracas, Vienna & Barcelona. He is involved with Public Transports since 1992 when he started at Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), Barcelona. In this company he played different roles as Director of IT Software Developing in PC (1992-1994); Deputy of the CIO (1995-1997); Manager of the Metro Line 1 (1998-2003); Director of New Business Development & External Consultancy (2004-2006); and, in 2007, Director of Research + Development & International affairs.
He is member of the International Public Transport Association (UITP) and member of ERRAC.
Presentation: Superblocks: concept overview & application in Barcelona
The presentation shows the development and proof of the “Super Illa” project in the city of Barcelona. This implementation looks for giving to the citizens of the city a better place to live, decreasing pollution and traffic and giving value of the street activities. It will be explained the different typologies of different experiences in all the world, the singular history of the urban planning in the city centre of Barcelona and the actual solution that combines best practices worldwide and the typology of blocks in Barcelona. Finally it will show some results after half year experience in the first superblock implemented in the city.
