Biographical note
In July 2016, the Minister of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Transportation Electrification appointed Paul Côté, Chair of the Transition Committee for the implementation of Bill 76 to amend the organization and governance of Transit in the Montréal metropolitan area. In August 2015, he was appointed CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Metropolitan Transport Agency (AMT). He joined the AMT as Vice President – Operations in 2011, before being appointed Interim CEO in February 2012, where he served as Special Advisor from October 2012 to December 2013. His career is devoted to the railway sphere. From 1972 to 1977, he was Division Director of the Central Station for the Canadian National Railway. From 1978 to 2010, he held various executive positions with VIA Rail Canada before assuming the position of CEO. In 2012, he was inducted into the Canadian Railway Hall of Fame by the Railway Association of Canada.
Presentation: New Transport Governance in the Greater Montreal Area
Mr. Paul Côté was mandated by the Quebec Government to chair a Transition Committee and direct the implementation of Bill 76 to implement a new public transport governance in the Greater Montreal area. During his presentation, the future chief executive of the new Transport Authority (ARTM) will discuss the challenges facing mobility and unveil his long-term vision for public transport in the Greater Montreal area.
