Presentation: Meeting Transit Challenges; Driver-less Shuttle Buses
With the ongoing advancements in technology and the recent developments in the Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV), including those in the Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V),Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I), and vehicle to everything else (V2X), it is now time to re-think how transit can benefit from these advancements and developments. Increased ridership and reduced service delivery costs which are what every transit property strives for, may well be realized once elements of these advancements are incorporated in our business and service delivery models and practices.
Among the many challenges that transit has historically faced reducing its attractiveness, is “transfer” between modes and the First and Last Mile of a trip. This presentation will examine use of presently available shared use electric shuttle buses addressing this challenge.
