Biographical note:
Christian is Business Segment Director for SMART CITIES at NXP Semiconductors, managing NXP’s well-known MIFARE brand, known for secure transaction solutions. The MIFARE product family has established a proven track record in transport, access, micropayment and loyalty, powering various applications in more than 750 cities worldwide, with more than 10 billion contactless and dual interface IC’s sold. Moving towards the future, the team around Christian is focused on helping service operators to integrate commercial & public services in one platform, making them accessible to citizens on their device of choice.
The goal of the MIFARE division is to create trust through secure connected and scalable solutions, enabling sustainable & prosperous growth while ensuring safety for Smart Cities.
Christian started at NXP Semiconductors in 2000 with an engineering background and changed after several years of R&D management and product management into his business responsibility position.

While contactless Smart cards have been driving efficiency in managing urban flows over the past decades,
the advent of account based systems, online infrastructure as well as privacy & security innovations in long range RFID suggest
new ways thinking about, faster, more convenient and more inclusive ways of managing
access and payment to city services. In addition, systems will be able to leverage from crowd management data which becomes ever more important in the world of IoT.
