Marta JEREZ

Biographical note
Marta JEREZ is Market & Portfolio Manager in Alstom, focused on Urban Services (Tramway and Metro), which covers Maintenance, Modernization, Spare Parts and Support Services. Prior to this role, she was Bid Manager, also for Services, participating in some important tenders for Spain, Portugal and Asia Pacific. Marta has a background in Engineering, working in tender teams and projects in other different business, such as automation industry, renewable energy, power plants, and O&G. She has a dedicated master in Project Management and was certified as PMP last year.

Presentation: Energy Saving for Tramways
Energy consumption represents over twenty per cent of the operating costs for a tram operator. Higher average speeds but also improved passenger comfort through more popular usage HVAC systems or the add on of IT systems like screens, cameras etc. lead to growing energy consumption. Although it seems obvious that new rolling stock design is based on state-of-the-art technologies and equipped with energy saving solutions, most of the tramways that are in service today were designed and manufactured sometimes many years ago. This leads to a huge need of new strategies from the operators in the following years, which could include energy saving rolling stock modernization.
