Presentation: Trolleybus system as a modern and reliable mode of public transport
In Turkey Trolleybus systems started in the 1940’s. As it happened in some other countries in 1980, all Trolleybus systems dismounted and buses are instead used for public transport. It has been seen that those systems, which use fuel, are not sustainable. In 2011, we started studying trolleybus as a reliable and sustainable mode of transport for Kayseri. Meanwhile we asked to make feasibility study for Malatya, Ostim-Ankara, Hacettepe University-Ankara. According to O-D analysis and study, Malatya city has decided to build a trolleybus system. It was completed and started revenue service in 2015. After successful implementation of Malatya, historical city of Urfa, decided to build trolleybus system. This presentation will focus on the feasibility study and operational figures of trolleybus systems.
