Presentation: Big (Technical) Data for Public Transport: Threat or life saver for future Brake System 4.0 for LRV?

Big Data and Digitalization are becoming more and more of interest in the public transport for the next years. A lot of information are available or could be generated in addition by sensors, process data’s and experiences from the field. For Brake System the main focus is on Safety which includes operation but also services and maintenance. An intelligent online field data system could reduce maintenance effort and increase availability for Light Rail Vehicles. In addition to the online data the Return of Experience by using worldwide project quality data is the great opportunity for effective and efficient global service support not limited to the brakes for LRV`s in passenger service. These data have to be managed in a way that it does not come to an information overload, a negative impact of availability or to stress the driver with too much information. Therefore also driver assist functions should be implemented to reduce operational stress and increase system resilience for tramways. Smart connecting of Systems and taking the right benefit out of it. Threat or life saver….this has to be managed with the best system competence available at Knorr Bremse for Brakes, Doors, HVAC, TCMS, Converters and Services.
