Biographical note
Levent Erdogan joined Karsan in 2008 as Manager for Peugeot Citroen LCV Contract Manufacturing Project. He is currently in charge of strategic planning, business development and vehicle projects.
He was previously a management consultant at A.T. Kearney London Office with with focus on business plan development, supply chain network strategy, and merger due diligence for different industries.
Passionate about automotive industry, he has worked for 8 years in Renault, at different international engineering projects in France, Brazil and UK.
Levent Erdoğan holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University where he also worked as research assistant in Vehicle Dynamics and MBA from INSEAD..

Presentation: A case on Taxi Bus concept implementation
Nowadays, economies of scale have an effect on transportation strategies. Carrying goods and passengers in bulk and large quantities has become an economic and competitive need. Urban transportation is under pressure twice a day: first in the morning and then in the evening – the peak hours of air pollution in metropolitan areas, transporting people to and from work. In 2008, research showed that urban population had surpassed rural population for the first time in history, and that this large urbanization rate had caused pollution and social problems across cities. Our minibus concept is an innovation which is reversing these trends, making small as beautiful as large with the benefits of an electric vehicle.
Combining the minibus concept with electric powertrain provides an ideal product to meet modern urban transportation needs. Since a state of the art compact bus (minibus) should have all the comfort, accessibility and functionality of a large bus but at the same time be zero emission capable, reliable and maneuverable for door-to-door capillarity. The solution is to put into service compact vehicles to feed major urban transit lines such as metro, BRT or bus and also serve during off peak hour demands.
The KARSAN JEST EV minibus is a good example of such complementary urban transport solution with 5,000 vehicles sold and running in the streets of Istanbul and Europe.
