Presentation: Using Big Data for preventing crimes on public transport in the state of Bahia – Brazil
Violence and problems in public transport are common in Latin America, especially in Brazil. CITTATIMOBI created an alert button in our urban mobility application for smartphones, so users can report cases of violence of different types, and combined with information of Big Data we present the “Bahia´s public transport security map in 2016”.
The study covers the usage of the data obtained in one of the largest urban mobility applications in Brazil, downloaded and accessed by millions of people on a daily basis. The analysis was broadly used for violence prevention, sexual harassment and assaults on vehicles, terminals and bus stops in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador, Bahia – Brazil.
