Presentation: Smart cities and the global megatrends – the future of urban mobility
Presentation: Mobility of the future – global megatrends that will drive mobility innovations
The social transitions because of digitalization are changing the profile of both the mobility users and the urban fabric leading to changing demand in the delivery of mobility services. The dynamic ecosystem of urban transport and the increasing popularity/demand of walking, cycling, bike-sharing, ride sharing and mass transit are indications of this change on the ground. The presentation discusses global megatrends for the impact they would have on urban planning, mobility users, service providers and discusses how our policy and planning paradigms need to change quickly to catch up with the changes which are evident in our cities. It discusses what kind of mobility consumers the Generation Z will be; how the internet of things (IOT) will change the land use planning; how mainstreaming of diversity and inclusion in the corporate agenda will increase participation of women and the disabled who have so far been kept out of the mobility market; and other such trends. Sustainable mobility practices will be the demand of the future mobility consumers.
