Presentation: Cycling as a feeder to public transport
The integration of walking and cycling to public transport is key for a sustainable transport system, especially for the first and last mile connectivity. In order to make the use of public transport more attractive and efficient than private cars, trips have to be as seamless and integrated as possible.
On that note, this presentation will explore the necessary components of the integration of walking and cycling to public transport through the lens of the value of active modes to the first and last mile connectivity. Social, health and economic benefits of the trio walking, cycling and public transport will also be approached. As a wrap up of the session, two examples of best practices of the integration of cycling to public transportation will be presented and discussed.
