Presentation: Beyond Procurement: How to better plan, schedule and operate an electric-bus fleet
Operating electric buses requires the transformation of planning and operating methods, and brings forth new considerations for delivering reliable, efficient service. Questions that need to be addressed even before acquiring an electric fleet include where to deploy the vehicles and install their recharging stations; how to manage charging large fleets in garages; how partial charging can reduce costs; and how to determine the optimal fleet mix of electric-bus types. GIRO’s presentation will propose solutions to plan and operate electric-bus fleets, along with strategies to address the transition while continuing to deliver high-quality service.
GIRO helps the Electric Bus Consortium assess how electric-bus design decisions affect scheduling and operations, and develops planning tools to facilitate deploying electric buses.
