Innovation by investing: Singapore’s Land Transport Innovation Fund
Singapore’s Land Transport Innovation Fund (LTIF) is an integral component in Land Transport Authority (LTA)’s strategy to promote sustainable urban mobility initiatives. LTIF acts as a catalyst to accelerate the speed and frequency of innovation in Singapore’s land transport domain. The fund fosters collaboration with the industry, research institutions and academia by providing a platform for funding support at the conceptual stage and pilot trials with the potential to result in viable and innovative land transport solutions.
Contactless account-based ticketing – transforming the transit experience in Singapore
To accelerate the speed and frequency of innovation in Singapore’s land transport domain, LTA actively partners with industry, research institutions and academia to conceptualize and pilot trials with the potential to transform land transport solutions. On 20 March 2017, Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Mastercard jointly launched a pilot of the Account-Based Ticketing (ABT) System for public transport, by allowing the usage of contactless credit cards and contactless debit cards for fare payments. Singapore is the first in Asia, and one of the few cities in the world, to enable this.
