BERTRAND PICCARD LEADS THE TRANSITION
Bertrand Piccard, Solar Impulse leader, doctor, psychiatrist, aviator is also a pioneering thinker with a clean energy message.

After being the first to complete a non-stop balloon flight around the globe, the Solar Impulse 2, a solar airplane of 72m wingspan is on its way to attempt the first solar-powered round-the-world flight.
He is an inspirational character for public transport since the Solar Impulse project demonstrates that we can achieve impossible goals with clean technologies and renewable energies.
Like he says, “What is done in the air can be done on the ground. Which better actor than public transport to show the use of these new technologies for the benefit of consumers, but also the entire society?
“The world is in permanent transition. There are always changes and crises. How are you going to face it? You can let others take the lead or you can bring your answers and you will have the satisfaction of being an actor rather than a follower. If you want to lead the transition, it means you are going to create the future.”
In this video he explains why all public transport players need to Lead the TRANSITion – the theme for the 2017 UITP Global Public Transport Summit.
