Société de transport de Montréal (STM) has acquired a state-of-the-art operations centre (COP) for its bus network.

The centre was established as part of rolling out iBUS, a vehicle scheduling and passenger information system. The system locates all buses in operation in real-time and provide transit users with bus arrival times at their stop.
With iBUS, the transit experience for customers is enhanced through the use of several real-time information tools. Customers gain from seeing and hearing the names of upcoming stops inside the bus. Of benefit to all passengers, the arrival times of upcoming buses are displayed on 90 information terminals located at the busiest stops, on stm.info and mobile site, in addition to being accessible with smartphone apps. In the end, the transit experience is a better one and mobility is made easier.
During this tour, visitors will:
- Examine the centre’s organisational structure: roles and areas of expertise of teams
- Explore the equipment: the vehicle scheduling and passenger information system along with the new radio infrastructure for the entire fleet of vehicles
